Magnetic Slime

All

Magnetic slime took this summer by storm - and we're loving it at Stephen's Place too.

Slime is at the top of the list on the most fun DIY activities right now, but did you know you can make magnetic slime? You can! And here’s what you’ll need:Magnetic slime was one of the most popular DIY activities of this summer. Liquid Starch (you can find this at Kroger)Elmer’s glue Rubber glovesIron oxide powder (you can try Amazon for this one)Disposable bowls and craft sticks for mixingNeodymium magnets (can also be ordered on Amazon)Step 1: Mix ¼ of a cup of liquid starch and 2 tablespoons of iron oxide powder together in the bowl.Step 2: Add ¼ of a cup of Elmer’s glue into the mix. It’s going to look really messy at first, just keep mixing!Step 3: Put the gloves on so that your hands don't get dirty and start mixing the slime with your hands. There will be some liquid left over that’s not slime and that’s normal. Just keep squishing the slime together until it’s well mixed, then wash off any residue left on your hands right away.Step 4: “Dry” the slime off with a paper towel. The slime itself won’t make your hands black, but the liquid left over will. Make sure you clean all of that up before playing with it!Step 5: If you play with the slime anywhere, you might want to cover any porous surfaces you don't want residue on, just in case.Other than that, have fun! You can do a lot of cool stuff with this magnetic slime -- pull it around with magnets, turn the slime into giant bubbles or just squish it with your hands! If you’d like to stay updated on all the events at Stephen’s Place, visit our website at www.stephensplace.org/news
