Welcome to Our Day Program

A Place to Make Friends, Learn New Skills, Socialize, Get Crafty and So Much More!

  • Health & Fitness

Depending on the schedule, our Day Program offers group workouts to get everyone moving.

Sometimes we’ll hit the on-campus gym other times we will rock out to Just Dance which allows people to move their bodies freely for an hour while singing, dancing and generally having a riot of a time.

  • Garden Club

Our Garden Club has been popular for residents and friends who live outside of Stephen’s Place.

We grow (award-winning!) foods and flowers, collect bouquets to take home, and learn out different seasonal fruits! The foods we grow are also used in our kitchen to prepare healthy meals.

  • Life Skills

Our life skills sessions are paired with relevant crafts or STEM experiments to make the educational aspect fun! We have a "topic of the week" which is tied to a monthly life skill topic.

Our lesson plans build on each other, so that we can continue improving on the skills we've learned as the year progresses.

How Are the Life Skills/Arts and Crafts Sessions Structured?
Our lesson plans are carefully designed to build off one another so that participants can improve on their life skills as we move through the year. Each month we focus on a different life skill with weekly topics that tie directly into it. For instance, one month may be about relationships where we talk about different types of relationships during the first week and how to make friends during the second. Or we might focus on employment for a month in which we would teach how to write resumes, find job opportunities, and conduct mock job interviews. Each of which would have their own week so that we can really deep dive into it and help participants to truly learn new skills.

To complement our life skills lesson plans, we engage in craft projects and STEM experiments that reinforce the main topics of the week. For example, during our friendship building topic, we made friendship bracelets. We will carry the topics throughout the day by discussing them during snack time or pointing out examples in movies.
