The young man from Tottenham, England, was recognized by the U.K’s National Diversity as Positive Role Model of the year in 2017. As well as this, he was also named in the top 30 most remarkable people in the world with Autism who have impacted society.

Joshua also serves as the face of the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority (BME) campaign. Diagnosed with high functioning autism himself, Joshua helps to spread the campaign’s mission. The World's Youngest Neurosurgeon

Not only did Josh graduate from Oxford, but he was awarded a Certificate of Excellence and distinctions in both subjects. He’s now 13 years old and on track to become the world’s youngest neurosurgeon.

How Joshua Beckford's Journey Began

Joshua’s father, Knox Daniel, has always wanted to present new challenges to his son. He first recognized that Joshua was able to understand and solve complicated problems when he began teaching him letters from a laptop keyboard.

Joshua understood his father’s guidance at just 10 months of age. “I started telling [Joshua] what the letters on the keyboard were and I realized that he was remembering and could understand,” said Daniel, “So, if I told him to point to a letter, he could do it; then we moved on to colors.”
