The Stephen's Place Vision
This is the story of the Stephen's Place vision -- thanks to a couple's dream for their child.
The Kuni Foundation exists to support medical research for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and to support the enhancement of the lives of the developmentally disabled. Additionally, the private foundation provides countless volunteer hours to medical, educational and human service organizations. The Stephen’s Place vision is made possible by the generosity of the Wayne D. Kuni and Joan E. Kuni Foundation.
While we note their generosity and endless effort, we must appreciate the heart behind The Kuni Foundation’s efforts toward Stephen’s Place. Wayne D. Kuni and Joan E. Kuni shared a vision to provide a unique, underserved demographic with exceptional services and an environment that would provide the same comforts and assistance of home.
Wayne D. Kuni and Joan E. Kuni’s passion to serve this community stemmed from a personal and passionate place as they knew very well the challenge of being a parent of adult children with developmental disabilities. As parents of two sons with developmental disabilities, they had an ardent drive to provide their children with every opportunity and advantage. They saw a great need in their community, a lack of programming and support not only for the developmentally disabled, but for families as well. Stephen’s Place was born from the heart of a parent. The hard-fought efforts of Wayne and Joan resulted in the creation of a home that would not only serve their own family, but many others.Continuing in the manner of Wayne D. Kuni and Joan E. Kuni, Stephen’s Place’s mission is to provide the very best of home to your loved ones. Our singular focus is to provide a loving, supportive home that is rich in community and life-giving experiences. We invite you to get to know us, allow us to show you around our home and introduce you to the community we call “family”.
