5 Apps that Deliver Your Prescriptions to Your Door
The coronavirus pandemic has forced us to transfer many of our usual activities online, and chances are that when current restrictions are lifted in various parts of the country, many people will still need to keep their distance for a bit. Fortunately, there are apps that will deliver prescriptions to your door after ordering online or via app. Here are a few.
PillPack
PillPack, Amazon’s pharmacy, has its own app, which unfortunately is only available for iOS phones. Once you download the app, to get started you need to fill in your doctor information, insurance, payment method, and a list of your medications. They will take care of it if you need to transfer your prescriptions and manage automatic refills. You don’t need to pay to use PillPack; you only need to pay your standard copay or other out-of-pocket expenses.
Nimble
Nimble is a pharmacy that offers free prescription delivered to residences across the nation. You can use the Nimble app to have your prescriptions delivered in as little as an hour. To start using their services, consumers can simply instruct their doctors to send new prescriptions directly to Nimble pharmacy. The company accepts all major insurance and has the same co-payments as traditional pharmacies. The app has a very intuitive dashboard that shows you your past prescriptions as well as current prescriptions and when they’ll arrive.
CVS Pharmacy
CVS Pharmacy will often send your prescriptions to your door within hours. If you want to use their services, you can easily download the app to your phone from the Apple Store or Google Play. If you’re not currently with CVS, you’ll need to transfer your prescription to them, which can be done by going online and filling in your information. Alternatively, you can give them a call to make the switch. Customers can also use their phone to scan and send rapid refills to their local CVS Pharmacy via the CVS app. Regular prescriptions can be set up on an automatic schedule so that they arrive at your door at around the same time each month. You can use this for up to six prescriptions at once.
Walgreens
Walgreens is another store that has a dedicated app which helps you have your prescription meds sent directly to your door. The app, which is also very easy to use, is available for both iOS or Android phones and offers you a whole pharmacy on your device plus the opportunity to have a live chat with a pharmacy professional. The Walgreens app has another interesting feature - a pill reminder which the patient may use to enable prescription refill reminders or daily dosing. You can use the notifications to be reminded it is time for your pill, and you can enable a feature to note when you last took a certain medication.
Costco
Costco has a dedicated pharmacy app that not only delivers your prescriptions to your home but also allows you to compare prices and research your options. A very useful feature is the drug info section, which you can use in case you misplace the paperwork they give you at the counter or if you need to look up side effects or other instructions. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a Costco membership card to use the warehouse club’s pharmacy.
